Why this room
had to exist.

I built my first company alone. Not because I wanted to — because the people around me were investors, advisors, and well-meaning friends who had never felt the specific weight of a cap table conversation at 2 a.m. when you’re not sure you can make payroll. They gave advice. They gave perspective. What they couldn’t give me was the exhale that comes from being truly understood.

I started Commune after my second company. Not because the second one failed — it didn’t, not entirely — but because I watched a founder I respected disappear from the internet six months after a quiet acqui-hire. No announcement. No post-mortem. Just gone. And I knew exactly what that silence felt like, because I had been building toward it myself.
